Our Lecturers
Dr. Diana Shechtman
Dr. Diana Shechtman is a board-certified optometrist with a career spanning over two decades in clinical care, education, and interdisciplinary healthcare. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 1998 and went on to complete a residency in ocular disease at Fox Medical Center in Miami in 1999. She later obtained her oral prescription certification and DEA licensure.
Dr. Shechtman has spent a decade practicing within ophthalmology settings and dedicated 18 years to academia as a full-time professor at Nova Southeastern University. During her tenure, she held key leadership roles, including Coordinator of the Diabetes & Macula Clinic and Director of the Interdisciplinary Education Program. She also completed a six-month sabbatical in a retinal clinic, further enhancing her expertise in posterior segment disease.
Her clinical work has included positions as a consultative optometrist at Retina Macula Specialists of Miami and Eye Centers of South Florida, where she practiced full-scope medical optometry. She currently serves as the consultative optometrist at Loh Ophthalmology & Associates and Retina Consultants of Miami. Dr. Shechtman has also served as an adjunct clinical professor for several colleges of optometry, mentoring students through externship programs.
Dr. Shechtman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and actively contributes to various local and national professional organizations. She sits on the boards of Women in Eyecare (WIE) and Latinos en Optometry (LEO), and is involved with several professional committees, including CE director of the Broward County Optometric Association Conference. She is also the current co-host director of the “AOECE Master Series” and has served on multiple research initiatives, advisory boards, and professional speakers bureaus.
A frequent contributor to editorial review boards and industry publications, Dr. Shechtman has co-authored numerous columns and continues to publish journal articles and poster presentations. She is an accomplished lecturer, presenting on ocular disease at conferences locally, nationally, and internationally. Her contributions to the field have earned her recognition by Newsweek as one of “America’s Best Eye Doctors.” She was also featured as the VogayeMIA Aug Inspirational story 2025.
In addition to her optometric career, Dr. Shechtman passion paved the way toward combining her healthcare expertise with wellness education to better serve her patients and the broader community. She is a certified fitness trainer (ACE), certified Pilates mat instructor (Balance Body), as well as a certified Barre instructor. She is also fluent in Spanish.
Jill Autry, O.D., R.Ph.
Dr. Autry received her pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She practiced in critical and surgical care before returning for her optometry degree at the University of Houston. Following graduation, she performed a residency in ocular disease and surgical comanagement at the Eye Center of Texas ophthalmology center where she is a partner today. Dr. Autry lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of pharmaceutical and ocular disease topics and has authored numerous articles for both optometric and pharmaceutical journals.

Education Agenda
All hours are submitted to ARBO electronically on the attendee’s behalf. For all OD’s which require CE Broker, Tropical CE will also submit attendance to this platform. All Tropical CE educational programs are administered under the auspices of the Rosenberg School of Optometry, at the University of the Incarnate Word. The University reviews and endorses all course materials, speakers, and presentations.
